Question 1: Are there any resources for my kids to learn more about science? My kids seem to learn well from graphical depictions of the topics they are learning. Here is a 3-D graphics computer program that addresses many science topics. Lots of FREE demos.

Question 2: Do you have any good ideas for science fair projects? I get asked this question about 50 times a year. Once people find out that I am a biochemist and that I own a biotechnology company the question starts to fly. I have found this one little site that provides lots of good ideas of projects to do for your local science fair. Of course, none of these are going to win the National Science Fair competition, for that your little one is going to have to come up with something entirely unique and important, but they are quite fun to do anyhow.

Question 3: How do I patent an invention? Well, the first thing you need to be sure is that you actually have an invention that is patentable. Then you can proceed with the patenting process. This little book will help you determine if you a patentable invention, save $1000's of dollars in the patenting process, and educate you on the steps in the process.

Question 4: How can I help my chlld become a scientist? To this there are no 'set in stone' answers. Science is like all great careers and really there has to be a passion for it...and inherit passion. You, of course, can nurture that passion by providing your child with the tools necessary to succeed in the sciences. I recall a 5th grade teacher, Mr Wiggam, who used to regularly hand me science and engineering projects that he miraculously had always seemed to have lost the instructions and was wondering if I would be interested in trying to put it together. Well, the seeds of discovery were planted and I can say that thanks to him my interested in science was piqued. So just challenge your child and be amazed at what they can do. Here is a link to an series of advanced placement science projects that can help you and child spark that desire for scientific discovery. AP Science LInk
